Pension Idube is a charming early-1900’s home in the leafy suburb of Auckland Park, Johannesburg, only 4 blocks from Melville’s trendy 7th Street with its cosmopolitan restaurants, bars, cafes, antique stores and craft shops. The ‘old girl’ (as we fondly refer to the house) has been extended, renovated and redecorated to bring her into the 21st century, offering our guests sun-drenched rooms with squeaky cleanliness, gorgeous decor and little touches of luxury!
Whether an academic visitor to the University of Johannesburg or Wits (University of the Witwatersrand); or a business traveller to the major business hubs of the CBD, Rosebank, Sandton, Braamfontein and Parktown; Idube is the perfect accommodation option. Our leisure travellers and backpacker friends - we prefer to call them ‘independent travellers’ - have said that Idube is the ideal base from which to explore Johannesburg.
Idube is a budget bed and breakfast - our aim is to provide great accommodation and breakfast while not blowing our guests’ travel budget. This doesn’t mean you’ll be sleeping in a dormitory - on the contrary! We have a selection of accommodation options to best suit your pocket. Our motto is “budget doesn’t mean cheap and tacky” - we can boast genuine persian carpets in our guest lounge and dining room, original artworks and beautiful decor.
And wait… there’s more… We can arrange tours, transfers and restaurant bookings - let us know what you need, and we’ll do our best to please!
A ‘Pension’ is a French word for a small hotel offering personalised service with a breakfast offering to weary travellers. And ‘Idube’ is the Zulu word for Zebra.
